Great progress. The light hood is made from galvanized sheet metal, I sent the aluminum foil tape to line the inside of the hood to keep a good reflective surface. The galvanized metal will lose is shine and dull over time the foil tape will not dull. So did the hood fit properly on the tank?

oh is THAT where that came from? I found it on my table lol. Random Fix-it materials pop out of my house all the time, I never know what the previous owner's left I haven't tried fitting it yet! I need to get my BF to pop the hinge on the plexi for me. Brute strength is not my forte lol. But I'm sure it's perfectly fine! Hopefully I can get some update pics soon!

Nicely done, I can't wait to see the light this puts out I was thinking the same thing last night. The 20-something gallon looks kind of 'yellow' right now. The 2 CFLs I have on top just aren't enough to penetrate all the corners of the tank, plus the tannins from a huge piece of driftwood make a difference, too. I just hope I got the colour balance in the light right!

With your choice and balance of colours it all looks right!

WOW. I just did this up in MS Paint and it made it a lot easier to visualize! Now I know what I ought to use to fill in the gaps, or what should be re-arranged for a more even balance of colour. This was honestly one of the biggest challenges so far. Balance vs. the number of tiny pieces I now have to solder! Bonus: The LAST part I need arrived! I have the ventilation fan. Now I just need to figure out how to install the thing I'll post a before/after pic of the tank with 6500K 13W CFL's, and the new light. I anticipate a ...brilliant... difference
