Does anyone have any good advice on dealing with this type of algae in a planted tank? This werr going along great and then bam!
Thoughts or help would be great...
65 gallon tank... 2 guppies.. many rcs shrimp..lots of plants of 10+ varieties.. use 1 - 2 caps of excel flourish daily...2 daylight bulbs 2 plant and aquarium bulbs.. periodic excel nutrients maybe once per week... plants look good.. but algae starting to win the fight.. thoughts? suggesions?
Thanks in advance
Oh.. tried overdosing with excel flourish... tried lights off for couple of days.. neither helped at all.. increased water movement in tank but likely not enough...

The best way I have found is to blast it with hydrogen peroxide and do a water change. Make sure you turn off your filter until the water change is done or else the peroxide might kill your biological filter.

Make sure its the 3% one, you won't need the stronger one. I honestly never measured it out just use as little as possible to cover the effected area. I used a plastic syringe so I get it exactly where I wanted- make sure you turn off all your circulation pumps too. I have heard people say try to use under 15-20 milliliters of hydrogen peroxide. You really do not need much, I would recommend starting with 10-20 ML
