Mini Pellia is a very small liverwort that grows very slowly. Another name for mini pellia is coral moss, due to the fact is grows like table corals in the ocean. Being of a hard texture, it is a great liverwort for shrimps to pick off. Being so small, this great liverwort is perfect for nano tanks. It is great to use as a gap filler, ground cover, on rocks and on driftwood. When tying mini pellia onto driftwood, I recommended only to use single flakes of mini pellia to slightly cover the top of the driftwood, this way the growth will be uniform and grow upwards forming coral like growths. I use black cotton thread to tie the mini pellia down, this way it wouldn't get lost in the current. This method is also recommended for tying on rocks. mini pellia grows best under medium to high lighting (at least 2wpg). With high lighting, high co2 and high ferts, mini pellia can grow extremely fast. But all these elements must be balanced or algae could take over the mini pellia very quickly. It can also be grown under low lighting, but growth will be extremely slow and the mini pellia tend to grow sideways. A beautiful plant to add to a planted scape.
