Hi guys , Do we have experts Central American Cichlid keepers in this group ?? I just started my venture in a 48"*18"*18 " tank ,,,,,,,,, Will start with 2-3 Vieja Argentea OR Parachromis Managuensis ( Jaguar cichlid ) ,, will get 2" fishes by next weekend ,,ultimately once grown will keep a pair or a single male specimen ,,,,,,,, Pfb initial hardscape ,, wanted to make a root structure ,, do share ur comments and thoughts .......

I would suggest some leaves on the bottom. You can pick some oak leaves that are still on trees right now, do not use any leaves on the ground, they will have mold or mildew or maybe some parasites. Those oak leaves will fall off the trees as soon as the new buds are pushed out in a few weeks. Down there in sub-tropical Windsor ( compared to frigid K-W ) you are probably a couple of weeks ahead of us, so go look for leaves now Floating plants is also a good idea. They are especially good at getting smaller fish to be out in the open more

Hi guys , ill b getting 5 juvenile Nicraguensis soon ,,,,,, as per several website and forum this fish does not like soft water ,,,hence plan of adding IAL is in vain ,,,,, any suggestion how it can b made more natural

as per several website and forum this fish does not like soft water ,,,hence plan of adding IAL is in vain ,,,,, any suggestion how it can b made more natural Nicaraguense like neutral 7.0pH and dH around 10, which is not very soft, but not very hard either www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/nicaraguacichlid.php I think adding leaves will make it look more natural, they might lower the pH a bit, but they are not going to lower the hardness very much if at all

Thanks ,,,, Ill b adding IAL s after dipping them in water for one week... I noticed after one week they dont leech anymore
