Very nice fish, and an interesting setup for them. I really like the rocks mixed in with the sand!!!

Ok now your just being cruel . You have three different shellies . A few of us in the Windsor Aquarium Society are setting up tank for them . My son have L. Brevis already . Very interesting species of fish for sure. Can I ask where you got yours from ? My son got his L. Brevis from Finatics.

Hate to add fuel to the fire, but I actual have 4 and maybe in a few months 5... I also have Neolamprologus.multifasciatus and the ones I planning to get are Altolamprologus.compressiceps Sumbu shell. Lamp.brevis is definitely a really cool species, and one I wish I had . Finatics is also my source for all things African cichlid related. Definitely the #1 source for cichlids in Ontario.

Nice clean simple setup for the tank! Noticed you are using a sponge filter, how big is that tank? I'm setting up a 20 God long for shell dwellers, and was considering a matten filter for it, any thoughts on this?

The boulengeri are currently in a 20 gallon, but I'm in the process of cleaning a 40 gallon breeder them Haven't personally used the matten filters, but from what I've heard it's seems to be the way to go in terms of sponge filtering. I see a lot of shrimp keepers/breeders going that route, will definitely be worth a try once I set up my first shrimp breeding tank.

Where do you purchase your shells from ? I get my barnacle fragments off of Ebay, and my escargot shells from a culinary store in Toronto.
