Thought I share some of the Tanganyikan cichlids I'm keeping. Will start with my juvenile Kigoma frontosa group, and F1 black calvus.

Did you pull the fry away from the parents ? Are the parents not good at raising their fry or is it because of other fish in the tank . Very nice looking fish btw , one that's on my bucket list.

Did you pull the fry away from the parents ? Are the parents not good at raising their fry or is it because of other fish in the tank . Very nice looking fish btw , one that's on my bucket list. The pair are very good parents. The female stayed in barancle 24/7 fanning the fry, while the male would guard them and occasionally brings food to my female. Placed the fry into a tumbler because one of my dominant gold head compressiceps males was being an absolute d*ck. The gold head compressiceps would bite onto my female's face and yank her out of the barancle, and then try to get inside and eat the fry. Luckily for the fry, the opening of the barnacle was too small for the gold head compressiceps to fit in. Had to put the female into a hospital tank, as the gold head roughed her pretty badly. Missing a few scales, got a 2 distinct scratches on her face, and one slightly swollen eye. The gold head also attacked my hand several times as I was trying to retrieve the barnacle from the bottom of my tank. Ended having to sink a critter keeper into the tank and move him to the other side of the tank. First 3-5 bites were annoying, but went he latched onto my pinky and began thrashing back and forth I started to get ticked off... Will keep everyone updated.

Would be intereted in these if you ever sell any . Will keep everyone updated on their growth. Once I start seeing more fine development, I'll move them over to a 20 growout, and then to a 40 breeder. Will start selling them around the 1".1.5" mark. Video of the fry feeding on the powdered Northfin Krill Gold pellets. If you look carefully, you can see the particles of food slowly descending in the left side of the tumbler. http://instagram.com/p/BRcKfgXjJvW
