You can mix them but a larger group of either would look better in a 20g tank I think. Okay. Do you think one kind would be better than the other in regards to not bothering or nipping at the halfbeaks if i end up getting some of them? I don't think either will be a problem. Just have to make sure the halfbeaks get their share of the food.

So what did you end up getting? LOL I havent gotten anything yet. Lol. I've been googling all night, showing my family pictures of things. They're no help. Lol. Although - - when i was looking for cory pictures, i stumbled upon the lasers... Oo i do like those! Do any of the local stores ever get any of the laser corys in?? Before i get too excited, Is that a natural thing, or they aren't injected with something to make them look like that are they..

So what did you end up getting? LOL Well, i have finally decided what i'd really like to get. It looks like i just found a source for my green laser corys. * * Now, i could use some help finding a source for: Neon Green Rasbora (Microdevario or microrasbora kubotai) So. Any suggestions of places online to check out? If i can manage to find these things somewhere, how many should i do in my tank? Given i now have only 4 otos, and 5 (possibly 7) kuhlis in there. And i'll be adding 6 Green Laser Corys. I was thinking maybe ten? Maybe leave me room to add 2 more black kuhlis.

Shrimp Fever also said they might come in with their next shipment in march. So i should be able to find them in the next month. Now - They're tiny. How many would you add?

I would say you'd have enough room as long as you have good filtration, maintenance and kept up with water changes. Would also help to have live plants.
Otos hang out on the glass. Khulis and cories take the floorspace and two small groups of schoolers will take up mid to upper level. Should fill out the tank rather well.

Yes I think room-wise it should be fine, and will look really good. Filtration : currently i have two "corner filters" rated for 20 gallons, they're run by an air pump & i have sponges and little bags of biomax in there right now. I do have an aquaclear 50 thats broken i'm trying to fix up right now, but i'm still debating whether that's going to go on this one or the new axolotl tank. Plants: I do have some live plants in there. I dont remember what its called because its been in there for years, but the one is a good size (about half the height of the tank) and then a second one about half that size, then a couple little tiny offspring . They were all so healthy for years but in the last month or so some of the leaves have started to turn brown. (Wondering if that might be adding to my nitrates?) Then a couple handfuls of floating water lettuce i just got recently. Happy to add more, but im not ready to get into complicated gardening. On a side note, i punched those numbers into aqadvisor even though I dont believe its very accurate (with one single kuhli it showed me 24% stocked)(i used my aquaclear 50 and one corner filter for filtration)but although it showed me overstocked it was only recommending less than 50% water change once per week. Does that sound right? Like, i'm doing that now already and its not controlling my nitrates properly.. what could i be doing wrong?

Edit to that last part - i've been messing with my filters this past week or so. Borrowed and swapped some media to get the second tank cycling. So i did some dismantling IN the tank water. It did dislodge some gunk. That's probably whats going on with my nitrates spiking so much these last couple of tests. Does that make sense? For some reason i was expecting nitrates to go Down because i had stolen so much bacteria.

Update: I needed to grab a hose for this used canister filter i picked up today, so i ended up going to Aqua Animania tonight...and i ended up coming home with those rummynose tetras i had been debating on. Some are hiding, some are exploring, but they're all SO cute! I love them already. Glad they made the cut.

The great thing about rummynose tetras are that they can indicate water quality. If their noses are nice and red, water is fine!

I got 2 more rummy nose tetras from Aqua on Sunday to try to bring their numbers up from 4 to 6. One didnt make it through the night again. i only saw 5 schooling together this morning, but couldnt find the missing one. Found it stuck to the filter after work. The other 5 look good to me, happy red noses.
