With the warmer weather just around the corner ( I hope ) what are your plans for outside container gardens this year . With the success achieved by Gabe , Les Jr. , Glen and Steve just to name a few I was wondering if that inspired others to give it a go .

Outside feels like it time to close down the ponds before they get started . Off to a rough start to spring .

Well, my tiny pond is half full of rain water, so it is off to a good start! Lol, I can’t believe that it was freezing this morning! Maybe in two weeks I’ll start the “ponds” up!

Well I am happy to say I had one Danio fry survive! Nothing else all summer long. Found a bunch of dragonfly larvae, but no fry!

Well the one container pond I set up this year was the winning club biotope tank from the CAOAC convention. It was doing great until a raccoon got into it one night and ate all the fish and ripped out all the plants. Surprisingly what was left was the baby crayfish we had. I brought it inside and it is now a fully grown crayfish and doing quite well. So it was sorta successful lol.

I had a 240gallon plywood tank with daisy ricefish which I got around 60 fry out of. I also had an old quick setup pool that had a trio of red striped endlers and 6 white clouds. I also produced half the dragon flies in Essex county from that pool so I didn't see any fry until a few weeks ago when the weather cooled down and the dragon flies flew the coop. Today I have pulled around 100 endler fry out and the adult fish but no white cloud fry.

That is a impressive number and with the endless supply of live food they had, I am sure there happy, healthy and growing fast. Just think how many you might have if you let 20 mature females go in there.

Well I also had quite a problem with the dreaded dragon's lol! But I managed to still get some good numbers of fish and was blown away by my ember tetras! I wound up with at least 100 moscow guppies, around 80 or so CPD'S, only about 30ish pumpkin shrimp, about 30 to 40 emerald rasboras, and I thought 24 ember tetras but after a couple recounts there were 33!! All and all still a great year!! Definitely going to try something for next year to stop the dragonflys.. Here's a couple pic's I can't figure out how to post videos on here but I put a few videos on YouTube if anyone wants to check them out.... stevee b is my chanel name.
