So a few weeks ago I decided to build a betta rack into my existing aquarium stand. The only problem was I don’t have any more room, however there is the drain and exhaust for my bathroom in the middle of the stand. For those of you who have seen my fishroom know this partial wall.... Well I ripped it out... Unfortunately there was still not enough room for the jars I want to use for the Bettas! So I had to “make” a bit of adjustments to the 2x4’s. As this was not a load bearing wall, not a problem. I figured out how to attach the “shelves” after relocating some of the electrical wires running in there. Next I had to make sure none of the drywall is in the way of the covering of the shelves. And slowly cover it all with the cedar planks. Than I realized I have to do a lot more clean up to be able to wrap everything... So more trimming.... Before I wrapped the face of the rack, I wanted to make sure everything was in order so I filled it up with betta jars. Decided that it is good, and finished it up! I left a lip on the top of the shelves, so I can attempt to put LED strip lighting in there. I just have to find one I like and learn how to work with it!

Looks super nice and it flows with the rest of your setup which is first class all the way . Gabe’s fishroom will be featured on an upcoming LR Bretz video .

Did some more work on the betta rack. Last Saturday before the Sarnia auction we stopped at Keith’s place, since he was the designated driver, and he gave me some LED lights that I was looking for. These worked out great! Had to do some wiring to put a plug in. If I get one, why not four?! Before the lights After the lights And the whole rack

Now I can grow some Anubias in the betta jars to help with the nitrates!

Will be interesting to see if those lights have the right spectrum to grow plants. To bad you can't get clear lids for the jars. An idea, you could use a cup saw and drill maybe a 2" hole in the lid and glue a piece of clear plexi glass to the inside of the lid, like a window or in this case a sky light
