There you go, the Rainbows are acting as Dither fish for your Rasboras. Seems like you have a winning combo. Just realize, fully mature they (the Rainbows) can exceed 2.5", that will be a lot of fish for that tank.

Yeah, it may get a bit crowded. If/when they grow too big, I'll bring them to the auction! I'm thinking for now, the 9 dwarf rainbows, my tag along harlies, and a single male pearl gaurami. I may rethink the gaurami though...

I would suggest nixing the Gourami idea right now. The Rainbow activity will truly be bothersome for it also your bioload is already maxed out. Had you picked up a group of Rasboras you would have been fine.
M.praecox are nice in their own right and should look stunning in your tank. When they have retained their coloration you know we like pictures.

Yeah... I see what you mean. I'm going to keep the M. praecox for a while because I've never had them before and I'm digging the opportunity to try out a new type of fish. But I will probably sell them and replace them with rasboras soon (5 bucks each if anyone is interested! ) In the long run, my vision for the tank is some calmer rasboras and a pearl gourami.

I will subscribe to that vision as well. I love peaceful tanks, as it makes my stressful life relaxing.
Nothing wrong with trying new fish, but impulse purchases can spell doom to tanks or plans. Been there.

In your photo on page 2, what's the plant just left of the sword? The grassy bits Do you mean the very short grass in the front left? It's eleocharis parvula (drarf hair grass)

New pic! Made a few changes and (hopefully) finally seem to have a handle on my fuzz algae issue! It turns out that the dwarf rainbows and the pearl gourami make a wonderful and peaceful combination. They both have a similar iridescent blueish sheen and really compliment one another. (I may re-home one or the other if they outgrow the tank, but for now it's very nice )

Ok, so things got way out of hand! Poor maintenance these last several weeks (months). It became a mess. (I always say you can tell the state of my mental health by the state of my tanks lol!) Aaannnnyyyhoooo.... I decided to tear a lot out and rescape. I cut out a s@#& ton of blyxa and decided to remove the dwarf hairgrass altogether. I saved the hairgrass and blyxa in a bucket, so if anyone wants it please let me know before I toss it! It will take some time to grow out and for the algae to get under control before it feels right, but I'm liking the new direction. Before and after pics attached.

Holy Hanna nocturnalflower! Looks like you needed a machete to get in there. Blyxa is a monster, you understand why I was giving it away for free right? LOL Gary
