Mom blue platy

Molly who thinks shes an oscar, terrorizes everything. These were taken with my phone. My female marble molly is in a separate tank as my other livebearers and so are the two blue platy boys (theyre related to my two blue females)

The female guppy in picture 2 does show mosaic pattern in her caudal. The body coloration is something we call "Nigrocaudatus". Females like this (dark colored) are offered quite often overhere in my country. But the coloration of the fins can differ a lot. If this female is coming from a pure strain and if she'd have mated with a male from the same strain, most likely you'll have male offspring with a dark body and blue fins and mosaic pattern in their fins. And if I look at the angle of the tailshape, the males will be delta guppies.

Wondered if she was an odd one of that kind. I dont have a male, just her and the plain jane little one above. Both these are young. But if i decided to get a good healthy male, thats not a bad lead to look into

Well, the pattern is an exsisting pattern in the guppy world and is called `mosaic`.

Mind that if an lfs has put those genders seperately in the store, at the wholesaler both genders could be swimming in one and the same tank.

The blue mystery mosaics were the only ones labeled a different price and only for the males of that kind. Tbh i have really really bad luck with guppies and keeping them alive during the first few days home. The two i have are the only two that made it. One was free, at another store as a tiny fry in the neon tetra tank and then the blue girl is the sole survivor of a group i bought to give the freebie girl a friend. I bought 6 total and shes the only one to make it. No problems with platies and mollies, but not guppies. Makes no sense because i keep sensitive species like farlowella, nanos, scaleless, and neon tetras alive and thriving.

Sometimes it will remain a mystery why this happens...

I do have several Endler’s Livebearers, no problem whatsoever. I tried guppies several times to no avail. Same with mollies thought. Maybe I just didn’t find a good strain yet.

Those guppies could be a bad or weak bloodline.

Ive tries guppies from different stores here with same results, so either entire locality sucks for hardy guppies, or im supppper unlucky lol Im thinking my blue girl may be pregnant so if she is, fingers crossed for good fry as ill opt to keep 1-2 i have better luck with fry. Anyways, got some more photos of some of the other livebearers i didnt get good photos of with the camera last time. The blue platies are mother and daughter

Great pictures. I have a question, how do you get your fish to stay put? And what camera are you using?

Great pictures. I have a question, how do you get your fish to stay put? And what camera are you using? I use a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 17-80mm lens. Or my smartphone, but these photos were with my camera. They dont sit still but flash helps, or fast shutter speed. Or catch them begging for food which os always with my livebearers, the pigs lol
