Aeneus or Venezuelanus? Shes my most colourful. More colour than any of my aeneus with a very bold red colour She was very tiny and very sickly when i took her in, i got her back in good health and shes nearly tripled in size. She was so emaciated and full of flukes and internal parasites. Couple rounds of deworming and good food and shes looking bright and so much better. This was the poor thing before. She was labeled as aeneus.

C.aeneas. The C.venezuelanus has a shorter, more rounded snout.

Awesome, thanks! Just very colourful then. My other aeneus bunch arent as colourful. My albino aeneus dont even bother with the normal ones either (are they supposed to? I was told theyd shoal with aeneus as theyre the same species). Ive got 6 normal and 2 albino. My albino paleatus shoal with my normal paleatus in my other tank, but my albino aeneus are kinda nutty and neurotic spazzing out all the time

Glad Gary could ID the Cory for you. I’m just starting to play with some of the cory cats, however don’t have the knowledge required for a positive ID. Also there are just so many of the darn things! 😂

The quickest way is compare the picture to both species. You will be able to see differences in the Head/Snout area of the fish. Those goes for many Corydoras. Some had more pronounced elongated snouts while others have short, stubby and rounded.
Corydoras will be a part of my final project.

Its just funny watching the poor store worker trying to net the paleatus and not the aeneus (i do own both as i havw cories in every tank besides my betta tanks lol) I find it easiest to look at the dorsal when looking at the albinos at the store. Paleatus have nice tall pointed dorsals. But it is pretty fun trying to figure them out because they do look a lot alike if you dont know fish
