So today I took the four largest fry and moved them into the tank with the adults. They were four times the size of the rest of the fry and I felt that they outcompete the smaller ones for food. They are about 1/2 inch now, and I know I’m over feeding the adults so they will have enough food. Also there is a rock pile for them to hide in and eat the food that the adults can’t reach! Good luck little guys!

Just finished pulling eggs! 10 eggs and one tiny fry.
So as of now I have 11 fry all together, four of which are about half inch!

All the Otos that I have bred, have been outside of the area funny enough. Living Things in Chatham started my first group of O.vittatus.

So today I released another four of the fry as I think this helped last time with the smaller fry getting more food. I also cleaned the bottom of the fry saver with a small piece of sponge and tweezers. You would not believe the crap that is on the bottom. There is a “slime” coat from feeding crushed up flakes. Here is a picture of a five day old fry! You can see the eyes as the two dots on the tip of my finger! Here are the oldest fry with some of the newly released ones in the background! The reflection is crazy in the tank, so these are the best pictures I can manage!

Sorry for the long delay, life is messing with my time, barely getting my water changes done! Lol
They are doing well. The parents stopped laying eggs for a couple weeks now, I hope they will get back at it when the weather cools down a bit!
I’ll post pictures after the lights come on!

Just an update on this. I lost a few of the fry for unknown reasons they were around one inch long at the time. Also lost one of the females, also to unknown reasons. No changes in the tank, same water as always, no change in food...
Since than I transferred the remaining three adults and 11 fry to a 20 long, heavily planted sand bottom tank, and I can never find them!!! Might have been a mistake on my part, but the fish might be better off!!!
Oh I forgot to mention, egg laying abruptly stopped, same as when it started. Have no idea why. Might be a seasonal thing?!
