Hey everyone,
I saw on the Facebook a few members were having a discussion about virtual meetings, with the state of the world it might be an option we want to explore further. I have been watching a few other clubs have been hosting virtual meetings via Youtube and someone on Facebook mentioned Zoom. I think it might be time to consider it, I don't mind assisting with coordination but I think its going to take some of the longer time members to assist in figuring this one out.
Thanks,
Jason

I’m looking into this as well. I’m not sure how it works so I’m researching about it. As far as I know Gary ( Crazygar) is very familiar with Zoom. When I have time I’ll call him and others that might know more about it! Unfortunately my work is very busy right now, and the earliest time might be on the weekend!!!

Ya I saw Gary has his own account which would be great for the club (huge savings). Another option is maybe to host it via Youtube, might be easier as people can download the youtube app and just comment from there. Only problem that way is that method is kind of one way, great for a guest to present a topic but unfortunately the members can't interact much outside of the chat (no video chat between them).

I spend about 10-20% a day, during the work week, on Zoom meetings, since 2016...
Youtube is one way, people can enter comments but they move at a dizzying rate when there is more than one person asking a question. Zoom would be the best option, going to inquire about how this works with the people at KWAS.
Might be prudent for the Club to eventually get this, I have a feeling next year is going to be reflecting this year.

Yes I agree Youtube might not be the best avenue, actually speaking of work you made me think of another app our company is moving too. It's called Microsoft Teams and is completely free with an optional upgrade to a commercial account. Here are the features of the free version (there is also a mobile app): Yes! The free version of Teams includes the following:
- Unlimited chat messages and search. - Built-in online meetings, audio and video calling for individuals, groups, and full team meetups. - 10 GB of team file storage plus 2 GB per person for personal storage. - Integrated real-time content creation with Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. - Unlimited app integrations with 250+ business apps to choose from, including Adobe, Evernote, and Trello. - Ability to communicate and collaborate with anyone inside or outside your organization, backed by Microsoft’s secure, global infrastructure.
Maybe just another option - just thinking that way you don't have to be administrator every time Gary, others can share the responsibility. Thanks guys!

Free Microsoft Teams only permits 45 minutes per Host session. Once again, someone with a full version (those with an Office 365 Subscription) is unlimited. I personally like Zoom, I rarely use Teams.

Oh I wasn’t aware of any time restrictions with Teams, maybe they changed it in 2020 to compete with Zoom and the other companies. I couldn’t find anything on their website about it but I also use the commercial version at work. Whatever you think will a best, I have very limited use with Zoom and it appears to be the preference of other clubs.

All deals with usage. I spend more time on Zoom than anything, from time to time, I have to deal with Microsoft Teams but not too often. I downloaded a copy last night (Teams) to check it out the free version, ok, but used to Zoom.

So I downloaded Zoom and played with it a bit. Seems straight forward to use it. I’ll watch the tutorials as well to see how to optimize it. Well as far as my abilities let me.... 😂

You can mark up things on the screen, and do loads of other stuff... Zoom is fun. Of course I am used to it.

Have you done any zoom meetings so far ? KWAS has been doing them since last April, even through the summer to keep up interest I have attended a lot of meetings put on various clubs here in Canada as well as the US. I even attended the Virtual On-line OCA Extravaganza in November, it was good but being there in person is better
