Morning All,
Just curious where everyone shops for their coral? as Windsor selection is very minimal.
I know some people that Bring me down SPS frags from Toronto but its seems hard to find nice LSP.
FYI regular hammer and frogspaw don't count LOL

I used to go to London frag swap, and pick up all the Ausie corals! That was before I lost $2000 worth of corals in 24 hours! My bad, too many corals in a small space!

Yup it was one big loss! Lesson learned thought! However it really put a damper on my spirit at the time! My wife convinced me to start up a new tank, but it has never been the same! I love the tank, but too afraid to do anything serious with it! No really rare corals for me just cheep, common stuff!

I go to a store in London called incredible aquariums. They are online but you can go to the store on the weekends. Sealife central in London is not bad. Very reasonable. Imo incredible has higher end stuff though. I have also herd of good things from aquarium by design in Kitchener. Other than that when I go to Toronto I always check out as many of the stores as possible. I am planning on going to the London frag fest in April is anyone else going?

I get most of my corals through trades, or on kijiji, or forums like this! I like Gil at aqua too.

Has anyone made frequent trips to Detroit? And if so where do you go and what are the rules for bringing back coral and livestock?

Has anyone made frequent trips to Detroit? And if so where do you go and what are the rules for bringing back coral and livestock? I believe member "seggsy" gets some from Detroit, he might have some input on this. I have brought back livestock and I always declare it. From what I have heard/done as long as its not on the Banned or prohibited species list in Canada and its for home aquarium use I have never had a problem. I'm not too sure about the rules for coral.

I have brought livestock back several times. Even if I buy from a reefer, I try to get a quick receipt as they sometimes ask.
US side DOES NOT seem to like bringing corals over to that side to trade or sell.
CDN side has usually been OK for me, though I know others have had huge issues. I've pulled in a couple of times while they try to figure out what I have. I pretty much only bring coral if I reeeeeaaaaaly want it or if it is a really good deal. And I always declare (start with $ of purchase....then "used stuff for my aquarium"....and see where it goes from there).

Got a few from Seggsy on here as well. If i get some surplus of cash one day i may try ordering online, shipping costs always seem to kill the idea.

I used to bring back all sorts of corals (LPS, SPS, Softies) and marine fishes from the US without any issues at all. When it was permitted, I used to carry the fishes as handheld luggage in cooler bags and checked boxes of corals, etc. Have the scientific names of the animals (fish and/or corals) and credible fact sheet(s) of the animal if possible and/or receipt if purchasing from a business. If it's not a protected species, i.e., not listed on the CITES list, then you'll be fine. It's YOUR responsibility to due your homework as it's unlikely that the immigration officer you meet at the border and/or airport will know. Your confidence in knowing what you are talking about, along with your preparedness, will assist in the process moving along smoothly. Bear in mind, that so many "yahoos" bring back prohibited exotic creatures from their holidays that the customs officers lean more on the suspicious side; which I feel is a good thing. Again, do your homework as this is not a difficult process. The prices of marine livestock in the US used to be FAR more affordable than what you would ever find here in Canada. I can't speak for Michigan but when I was buying livestock in the southern US, particularly in Texas, it was a Cdn hobbyists paradise! Again, do your homework and you'll be fine... ec.gc.ca/cites/listedesespeces-specieslist/index.cfm?lang=En#ss

Thanks for all the feedback. I used to live in Toronto so with 4 big ALS and 3-4 other stores in the city I never had to look far.
Now in Windsor and missing the options
