well, I've never seen this before! I have standard aquarium tubing running up the filter intake to feed CO2 into my 10g tank. in the past, using a ladder etc, I never had an issue. Now, I get this weird, slimy, milky film that starts at the end of the tube. within a day of removing it (eww), it's back. Is this algae? what's growing? I had a rubberized diffuser on the end of the line before, but the slime gummed it up, and I didn't want something to explode!

Could you post a picture? Is it in the water?

I had this before are you using DIY co2. The pop bottles with yeast and sugar?

I can't get a decent pic because its in the intake, but it looks like... snot lol. milky snot. thats the best analogy! its attached to the end of the co2 line, and sort of flowing off into the water

if you are getting anything in the tube you are not leaving enough room for the reaction their should be nothing but co2 going through the hose

I always use a one way valve on the CO2 bottle so there is no way the yeast powder can get in the line! Most likely that is it!is this the same tank the Hydras are in? They usually show up with less than ideal water conditions... Just food for thought! I would change the CO2 line!

That milky stuff you are getting is just from the reaction of the yeast. One way people have seemed to prevent it is to run a second bottle filled with water then to the tank.

That's a great read lesfromwindsor, The first image of the setup in there is the same setup I was using, only i have a sump on my tank, and ran the co2 line straight into the pump intake to my spray bar. instead of a reactor it worked GREAT, VERY few "bubbles" came out, and never any of the "snot" ... I however got lazy (to make new mix) and stopped using it... just PMDD now. I highly suggest the "third bottle" as I had a "snotty line" in the past when NOT using it" I found 3 identical "500ml gatorade" bottles to be perfect for my 15g.

Also, my "3rd bottle" is empty, no water, it collects the co2 from the 2 generator bottles, and allows for more pressure to the output of Co2.
