Hey all I've got a question: Is it possible/what's the best way to house Red Cherries and Amano together? From what I gather, one prefers soft water while the other prefers hard. I always kept ghosts and Amano in a tank stocked with driftwood, so the water was a little more acidic. Their current tank contains live plants, Eco-Complete, and granite (pretty well inert). What should I be adding, in terms of calcium-rich stone or wood, to create a happy medium for both?

I have seen many people keep them both together, but I have never personally done it.

As long as you have a neutral PH they will live happily together. I am doing it right now with no issues.

Right on, thank you! That's kind of what I figured would be best. How are they with a bit of salt? I have a single white mollie on Hydra Patrol for the sake of the RCS fry. I'm surprised at how well that worked out, actually.

They will do fine with up to a tablespoon of aquarium salt per gallon. I also do that.

Amanos actually breed in brackish water, so they will be fine with the salt! I would be more concerned about the cherries and salt but if you already tried it, and it works that settles it! I also keep the Amanos with the cherry shrimp!

Good to know, thank you! They're settling in well - the pre-filter sponge is like a shrimp magnet!
