I wouldn't go gloss. Maybe a flat blue. And acrylic is fine and doesn't smell as much and dries faster. They glossy might cause too much glare for the fish

Go to the dollar store and use this acrylic paint works great and the best part it comes right off very easily when you don't want it anymore.

Acrylic paint is certainly the way to go. Can be picked up at the dollar and and read my original post for all the information you need to do this.

Another option is to use a thin sheet of craft foam from Michael's or where ever. You can easily cut it and tape it to the back of the tank with black electrical tape. Make sure you run a piece of tape along the top of the foam and the top trim of the aquarium to prevent any water from getting in between the foam and the back glass The craft foam and electrical tape are waterproof but you still do not want water steaks on the back glass

You definitely don't want anything glossy as it will make the back of your tank like a mirror.

Thanks, I was thinking ocean blue with blue light shining on it. But I have a white with cracked black pattern wood stand and matching wood canopy, should I go with black instead? Thanks for any ones opinion, I want this tank to look sharp.

I think the blue will work well for your type of tank.

Yeah, will make it look more like the ocean. Besides it will get covered in coraline anyways, and only a few spots will show on the background because of my rock wall will be covering 90% of it. or how about bloches of purple, white and blue so that it matches the rock work? like my background in my avatar.
Can I put clear coat on the paint afterwards to make it more durable?

Going with black. From the dollar store. Then clear coat it. Thanks for the information. I painted an aquarium black before and found that it helps hide the colour of the wires in the tank.
