New to this forum, so lets hope I'm posting in the right spot I am looking for some new fish. I have a 25gl, with 1 algae eater, 1 red wag platy, 2 zebra danios, 2 redtailed variatus and 1 african dwarf frog. I am finding that I have fish that hide, and swim at the top. I would love to get something ( or a few somethings), that prefer the middle to bottom of a tank. Any suggestions?? I've had this tank for around 6 months, and I'm still learning. Who knew how much I'd enjoy it though!

So glad your learning and enjoying. There is so very much to learn in this hobby. So some idea's would be cory catfish for the bottom and there are so many variates to choose from. And neon tetra's for the mid level or choose from many of the varieties of mid swimming tetra's.

Tetras might be your best bet for mid water swimmers, just make sure to keep them in a school, they will be more active usually at least 6 per school. There are so many Tetra types to chose from.

Thanks!! So a few tetras for sure. How about rainbows? Or guppies? I don't want to overstock my tank, but I would like some variety in there.

25g is a bit small for almost all the rainbowfishes, except the dwarf neon type. I think Ruffin's, Aqua and Sam's may have them.

+1 on the dwarf neon rainbowfish. They create constant movement in the tank and do not swim very high up.

I got the last ones from Sam's, but Aqua still has one male and 7 females!

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check it out. Oh my, I'm already itching for a bigger setup. Looks like I'll have to start saving up.

Tetras such as Rummy Nose in a nice group would be great.
