i know i should paint the rack but im just gonna leave it as is. waiting to order a luft air pump, some 1 1/4" pvc piping and how im going to do the sump system. so basically its going to be a one filtration system. i know its not a good idea because if one fish is sick, the whole tanks is infected. BUT its going to save on hydro AND that is why what a hospital/quarantine tank is for.

Sounds like a good plan. Will you drill both tanks or use overflow skimmer box? Had been thinking of multiple tanks on one filter system. Not sure how it would work. Would you have a return line from each tank to the sump and 2 supply lines back up to the tanks? If you could give a run down of how the plumbing will link the 2 tanks together. Thanks

Hey that's a good design, one thing to think about will the sump overflow if the power goes out. Will the height of your return pipe in the tank regulate that, just have to play around with the pipe height compared to the water level in the main tanks

As long as your sump is not full. Keep the sump half way incase of worst case the water in the tanks should drain to the overflow level and stop and the sump wont overflow.
