Made a new light hood today. Mostly with supplies that I had laying around. Since I recently added a bunch of new plant I thought I needed to upgrade the lighting on the 135g. Current light is a 4 foot 2 bulb florescent fixture in a 4 foot hood. The new hood holds a 4 bulb 4 foot florescent fixture plus 4 CFL in a 6 foot hood. Took me most of the afternoon to finish the build and I still have to hang the hood over the tank tomorrow, the wife came out to the fish room at 8 o'clock and made me come in for diner ( or I would still be out there ) Total cost $ 21 had to buy a few eye hooks, socket splitters and a plug end

Great Job Keith. The plant will appreciate the new lighting. And tank pops. Very Nice.

Wow great DIY project, can't believe the difference in the light. Did that cost $21 altogether or was it an additonal $21 after the pieces you had laying around? Cheers

An additional $21 to finish electrical and parts to hang the hood. If I had to buy everything about $150 including bulbs

Ya I figured as much, just curious if I wanted to upgrade my lighting as well. Can't really beat doing it yourself providing you know what you're doing.
