Just setup a 55 gallon grow out tank for my african cichlids, juveniles will go here til theyre big enough to go with my other cichlids which will be in the 125 gallon soon i'm using pool filter sand for substrate this stuff looks great and only cost me $10 for 50 pound bag i also am running 3 filters for a total of about 220 gallons of filtration give or take a couple gallons Attachments:

The price is awesome. And the white sand is great for planted tanks as it helps reflect more light into the tank.

Well I bought mine in Chatham at Blue Water Pools and he got his in Windsor not sure what store. But we both paid same price. The stuff is sterile clean and the perfect grain size and does not compact. I have had no problems with mine what so ever. Need a minor rising and your good to go. If you going to add plants, mix a laterite first layer in and then a inch or two of sand on top. Its just that easy. I check on my one tank today and to see how well the crypt plants were doing and there roots grew a inch or more threw the sand and had attached themselves to pieces of laterite. So there doing well.

got mine at pools by angelo on jefferson $8.99 a bag before tax after it was $10.11

my tap water comes out at around 7.6-7.8 pH so i dont use anything
