Can anyone out there help me to identify these snails. I know I did not buy them. They only showed up in the last few days when I fed the tank. Thanks in advance.

I believe it is a Nitrous snail! It is a sand sifter, so you would only see it at feedings!

Good to know. Not really something I have to worry about. I got an amazing amount of stuff in one piece of rock. The problem is that I have had a few fish just disappear over night. All fish were long term tank mates and healthy. Water parameters are all normal. Can not figure out who the culprit is.

Time for a night time stake out. Maybe a bobbit worm or gorilla crab??? Good luck - I am always amazed at all the weird stuff going on in the tank if I happen to be up and check on it at 3 or 4 am.

Lol what all do you have in the tank and what has gone missing. Late night steak outs are great

Known tank list: Pygmy angel, Green chromis, Peppermint shrimp, Flame scallop, Emerald crab, Pink margarita snails, black serpent star, Small red and blue hermit crabs. What went missing: Blue eyed anthias, Oscelaris clown, Fire goby, Red cardinal. The fish that went missing were all in tank for more than 6 months. All healthy and eating well. There one day and gone the next. No bodies or any other signs of them at all.Just weird. I guess I will have to get up at 3 or 4 am and look at what else is in the tank.

What kind of tank do you have? Is there a lid on it ? Did you check behind tank in sump, filters under rocks? If no lid do you have any pets that would move them or eat them if they jumped out. Also check your amonia levil if there was a little spike could mean there is a dead fish barried someware. Or if they died at night your clean up crew could have had a nice latenight snack

I did check the ammonia after each disappearance with negative results. The tank is a Fluval M90 with a custom made lid. Nobody on the floor. The clean up crew might have been able to finish the job but something had to have started it. I believe something came in on the last piece of rock I got. Not yet sure what it might yet. Need to stake the tank out overnight. Healthy fish just do not disappear.

Just thought of something your large brittle star you might want to watch him they are scavengers but if hungry enough they will grab whatever they can get ahold of and a clown that sleeps low in the sand would be a easy victom

Do you have an overflow or sump? I have had most of my fish end up in my overflow at some point. Also had a watchman goby live in the filter area of a nano for 3 months (though I didn't know).
Good luck sorting it out - can't wait to see what you find
