So I started tonight getting everything ready.
Took the tank and thoroughly cleaned and razor blade scrapped it with vinegar. Then the rims were loose so I popped them off got rid of the silicone there and redid those as well. After that I gave the back a nice spray of black for background and its drying in the garage until tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will take some pictures of the setup and what it will be so far. Got the plants waiting to go in so Im pumped.
If I can just decide on substrate ill be ready to go. Either pool filter sand or i have some black gravel here as well. I like the look of sand but also with red shrimp would like to see the good color contrast so Im not sure yet lol.
Also if didnt see my other post I am looking for a bubble filter as well. the tank came with a small tetra hob which might be good enough but ive been told sponge filters are the way to go for shrimp.

So I built my stand (will post pictures i took with my phone) And have the tank inside sitting on it ready to go.
I cant decide 100% if I wanna go with the black gravel I have for nice color contrast to red fire cherries or with natural color gravel, or the third option but pfs and go that route

as per filters for shrimp tanks I have a 45 gallon that I use two emperor hobs for my shrimp and L183 starlight bristle nose plecos. I took the sponge filters from aqua clear 20's and cut a slit for the filter intake. One of my cherry shrimp managed to get through the sponge so i've since put a bit of panty hose over the intake tube then the sponge. No problems now. The sponge acts as a good pre filter as well.

none at all the bristlenose don't bother with them. besides they are only about an inch in size at this time and are well fed zuchini and seaweed strips.

UPDATES!! Heres the pictures of the stand build. I took them with my phone since I wanted to get the tank setup and got anxious so no fancy digital camera pictures of it. Anyone wanting specifics on it feel free to pm np. It is very strong and sturdy. Its all 2x4's with long #8- 4inch screws and I even used some construction adhesive (pl 400) on the tops and bottoms, as well as when putting the plywood down. So enough talk heres the pictures of the stand and one with the tank empty. I will take current pictures today going to move and change a bit of stuff around. Also if anyone needs one built for them could do that as well, time permitting.

Here's some of how the tank sits now. The pictures dont turn out bright at all and those are taken with flash. Must be the black background and gravel not reflecting any light. Gonna be picking up some pfs if i can find a place open today, thinking of having the black gravel as well as some pfs. Anyways same as always, thoughts opinions etc. post em!
