Watched the video below and found the stuff he mentioned at Canadian Tire. Gave it a try and wow does it work. Used it on a couple tanks that i am resealing and it was a night and day difference.

Interesting video . At our last club meeting I was talking to May and her husband and they were telling me they use fine sandpaper( I think they said 1500 grit) to remove the hard water stains . Probably works on the same principal . Since the water stains are not as hard as the glass on the tank a fine abrasive should remove the stains without scratching the glass. I have a few tanks that my neighbor pick up for me at yard sales that are in rough condition that I will try this out on . Thanks for posting the video.

I guess I wasn't specific enough , this is a wet sanding process . Sorry for the confusion . I'm hoping to try this out this week.

May and her husband just posted a video on another thread of the process they were telling me about at the meeting and look at that , I was right 1500 grit sandpaper. Good to know the old memory is still working.

Which section was it located? The Canadian Tire on the East end is renowating so they have moved things around! Can not find anything!!!

These are the stores that carry fine grit wet sand paper (1000 grit or higher): *Canadian tire (sometimes but expensive) *Part source (expensive) *Fox company auto body supplier (best choice) *Cross canada auto body supplies (2nd choice)

I actually have several cans of Bar Keeper's Friend. Never thought about using it for cleaning tanks though, just used it on my knives (for small rust specks).

Try it and you won't use anything but BKF after!! I really need to try this . I've used fine sandpaper with great success . This sounds much easier .

Picked up some Bar Keepers Friend in both the dry formula and the spray bottle. Going to try it out , says it's great for stainless steel also so very interested to see how it does on the vintage stainless steel tanks I have . Some of the trim needs a good cleaning . If anyone else needs some the Canadian Tire on the east side has lots on the shelve.
