Hello all, I go by Xander, and after about 4 fishless years I've got the bug again. Currently trying to establish a 10 gallon, would love to upgrade in time to a 20-30 gallon. If I had the time and cash, I'd dedicate my entire basement to aquariums. I'm Loach- and Cory- and Pleco-mad, much love to the bottom feeders~ I'm not sure what else to add, so I'll leave it at that and I'll hope this place is a good resource for my growing enthusiasm in the future~! PS. Who can I beg for seed material from?

First off welcome to our forum, and you certainly came to the right place if you have the fish bug again. There is lots of experienced hobbyist here and you could meet many first hand hobbyist at one of the Windsor Aquarium Society monthly meetings that happen the second Sunday of each month. Details in the Windsor Aquarium Society section. And many can certainly relate to having or wanting to have a basement full tanks. It is a gradual process as most of us do not get all of our tanks at once. We also have big fans of all 3 bottom feeders you mentioned. Enjoy the forum and all it offers.

Oh I'm sure I can count on the MTS! It's been difficult enough to curb my enthusiasm this past week as it is.
Thank you all for the friendly welcome. I would like to make it out to the next meeting, if all works out.

Welcome to the forum! A pleco guy here! What kind of "seed material" did you have in mind.

Thank you both!
Just looking for a piece of established foam or other filter media I could shove into my AquaClear 30 to help get this cycle jump-started. Certainly nothing too big. I'll be starting out with some Cherry Barbs, so hopefully from an appropriate community.
I do have to wait for the rest of my supplies to come in - my testing kit should show up today, but my replacement heater only just shipped out this morning. The 10-year-old 50w Neptune I have in there now isn't quite holding up to the lower temps I keep my house.

I can certainly give you a piece of sponge, I have in my AC10 since I was going to replace it soon. I use crushed lava stone as media in my filters, and you are welcome to some if it would help out.
