I appreciate all of your approvals! I didn't have to do much searching when I was choosing potential tank mates for Kuhli loaches - as soon as I read about Cherry Barbs, I was as sold as it gets. They're incredibly handsome fish, and after caring for some nasty fin-nipping tiger barbs quite a few years ago, I knew I wanted a barb that would be more suited to a peaceful community. With my ammonia and nitrites steadily reading at 0 ppm for several days, I was comfortable taking the next step and bringing in the Kuhlis today! I acclimated them for a longer period than I normally would have, just to be sure, and they were very happy to explore the caves and driftwoods upon their release. We'll see if I get to see much of them in the coming weeks!

Also... I think that, maybe, I have a thing for orange pets with black stripes. Can't really say why that is, but the evidence is astounding: Only my two cats break the mold.

Nice healthy loaches, hope they do good for you! I know they were eating like pigs for me! The two females are huge IMHO, but I never saw anything on breeding them. Maybe you can try it, they are about two years old, so they are more than old enough. The two females are from PetWise, and the other three are from London Big Als. So there are not related.

From what I've read, breeding Kuhlis in captivity is pretty difficult to do. Still, I'll do as much research as I can, and if they show any mating behaviour I'll to do everything I can to facilitate it!
Oh! And can I ask what species of plant it was that you gave me, again? It slipped my mind, haha

I found a shrimp!! It's just around 1cm long, tiny little dude. I can only imagine it came to me through the seed material I got from Gabe, making it one of the first inhabitants of the tank, along with all the MTS.

Most defenetly it came from my tank! I got baby shrimp all over the place! I do not even know where they come from, but they are in there! Even in brand new setups!

Hurrah! I have finally moved everyone over into the 20 gallon, today! And everyone already seems far more happy with the new footprint.

This is the best silk planted tank I have seen. Very realistic and I am impressed.

The new guys: The kuhlis are certainly the smallest I've ever seen, varying between 1-2 inches in length. The smallest little guy can't be more than 2mm in width. Unfortunately, the largest one of the batch did not make it through the night in quarantine; I'm assuming stress was the factor, as nothing appeared to be wrong with him otherwise. The remaining four have been swimming around very active and healthy-like all day, and have taken to their first feeding with gusto. The shrimp have been actively devouring every shred of algae on every strand of moss they can get their silly mitts on. I can never seem to fin more than two at once, so I'm not sure if the third is well (two of the five were sent off to my sister for her tank) or just very good at hiding. In any event, they've been entertaining.

Sorry to hear about your kuhli. I had to pull my new Rams out this morning as they were hiding at the surface in the back of the tank gasping for air. I should have went with my gut and kept them isolated longer. One wasn't looking so good and I assume he'll be gone when I get home. I really need more tanks. Stress definitely kills fish quicker than any disease.
Shrimp look cool and I love the video of your kuhlis swarming above. Hope your new little guys grow up fast.
