So the contents of my 10 gallon will be transferred over to a 20 gallon as soon as my stand is finished, and I plan on converting my 10 gallon into a divided tank for Bettas. I only plan to use a sponge filter in this setup, though, and knowing they prefer their water still, I was looking up some DIY baffles, but could only find baffles intended for HOB filters. One single hit gave me anything to go on here, and it was that a floating ring could be used to do the trick - which presented two immediate problems to me. 1) I don't own any rings that may float 2) I imagine said ring would have to be anchored to the airline tubing to keep it centered over top of the bubbles, but it would have to be done in a way that it would still be able to rise and fall with the evaporation level. I'm certain this is a very specific problem that not many of you will have to deal with, but here is my super cheap and easy solution: Before: Notice the distortion in the reflections. After: Comparably so much more calm! The genius: I've used the lid of an empty sour cream carton. It's a #5 plastic (Polypropylene) so it's strong, tough, and resistant to heat and moisture. I installed it in the same manner the lift tube is installed into the sponge filter - feed the airline through before attaching it to the bullseye. Carefully cut using a craft knife to take up as little surface area as necessary. It's not much for a DIY project, but I'm happy enough with the results to give it a share~ Next step: getting an airstone to get those bubbles smaller and dampen the noise!

Great idea! I am constantly trying to find a better baffle for my divided Betta tank. I think this one is worth a shot.

Let me know if it works out, if you give it a try!
My Betta tank probably won't be up and running for another month or so, so I can't give a very practical review quite yet.

Good idea Xender, I never used to cut out the top out just attach the lid to stop bubble splashing!
