Hi... I was given a whisper 30 60 filter for my 52 gal tank however I am not sure how the placement or what media actually goes on the inside...I'm including photos of what I have Any advice would be greatly appreciated. .. I have tried and tried to Google for this info to no avail. Thanks Patty PS this is going into a new set up...I'm just starting out trying to put my tanks together

I've located a manual that may or may not contain the information you need. It is in PDF format. This manual is dated 2004, so I'm not certain how relevant it will be to your model. ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/D1fxlhwA4CS.pdfThe only Tetra brand hang-on-back filter I've used was replaced by a different brand over 10 years ago, so my memory of the media pouch is limited - I believe some carbon was provided in a packet, which was emptied into the white filter floss pouch or "bio-bag", which was then slipped over or clipped onto a grid. I don't remember anything that resembles pic#3, but mine was only a tiny model for a 10 gallon tank. I'm certain someone else here may have better information than myself. As for how it is placed on your tank, it will hang on the back rim so that the spouts as well as the long intake tube are the only things inside of the tank. The deep wells where the filter media are stored will sit between the tank and the wall that the tank is up against. I hope this is the information you are looking for, and good luck!

Additionally, you can choose what you put into your filter to use as media - it doesn't necessarily have to be the activated charcoal/carbon sold specifically for your model. In fact, many aquarists (myself included) choose not to use carbon at all! It's explained why on the "Activated charcoal (or carbon)" section of this page. www.wetwebmedia.com/fwsubwebindex/fwfiltrmedart.htmThere are plenty of other options, such as sponges, or ceramic media, that don't need to be changed very often at all - just cleaned monthly by squeezing out and shaking off the filth in old aquarium water drawn during water changes. Check out the rest of the options available to you in that link, and see the advantages and disadvantages of each!
