Anyone using them? Have any advice for a newbie in dry ferts?

Is this a low tech or high tech tank. High tech would require daily dosing while low tech would require once or twice a week dosing.

In fertilizing my low tech tanks I add my macro fertilizer dose KN03, KH2P04) after my water change. I then add a dose of micros ( trace elements) the next day. That seems to be adequate for most of my tanks as long as I do weekly water changes. 50% water changes are needed weekly to reset the tank for a new week of dosing. The dosing below is based on a 15 gallon tank. If you tank is bigger or smaller you will have to make the necessary adjustment but this gives you a starting point. I also typically add a double dose of Seachem Excel when I do a water change. It works well and the plants are doing great.
Macro Ferts ( add right after water change) 1/4 tsp KN03 2x a week 1/4 tsp KH2P04 2x a week
Mirco Ferts ( add day after water change) 1/4 tsp Trace Elements 2x a week
Weekly Schedule For Low Tech Tank Dosing
Saturday Water Change - Macro Dose (Add Seachem Excel) Sunday - Mirco Dose Monday - No Dosing Tuesday - No Dosing Wednesday - Macro Dose (Add Seachem Excel) Thursday - Mirco Dose Friday - No Dosing Saturday - Repeat Process

Yup, that what I was doing as well! Now I just keep plecos in all the tanks, and they take care of the ferts! LOL
On a more serious note, Glen are these the ferts from Northen Lights that you use? Just asking since not all ferts have the same concentration at 1/4 tea spoon!

Dry ferts last a long time in small planted tanks.

Thanks Glen!
Also do you dose strait into the tank or you dilute it with water first?

Thanks Glen! Also do you dose strait into the tank or you dilute it with water first? I was doing it diluted in water for first little while using these but now I am just dosing straight into the tank.
