Ammonia vs Nitrate uptake in planted tanks

I would like to draw your attention to this great article by Diana Walstad about how plants play a major role in the uptake of ammonia and how the nitrogen cycle is very different in aquatic plants than in terrestrial ones.
Those that have not yet started with live plants in their tanks, find here yet another reason to do so!

All the more reason to keep the lights off when cycling a tank and of course plants plants plants!
