Hi all,
A friend's grandmother has problems with hair algae in her pond, I have little experience with ponds,
She says plants don't seem to help and wants to try a UV Sterilizer.
Opinions?
Thanks!

UV will help with the spreading of pores, however it will not stop the existing algae from growing out of control! If I remember correctly a small bale of certain straw will release a natural algaecide in the water. I know Sam's selling it! Worth a try! Also if she would not mind getting wet a bit, could spot treat the algae with H2O2 from the dollar store! That is what I use when I do not have excel at hand! She could also cover the pond for 48 hours with a thick tarp to black it out. This will not hurt higher plants, nor the fish she has in there! Hope this helps, at least give you an idea what to search up! LOL
