Well finally I had a bit of time to work on the stand for my wife's goldfish tank! This stand will be for a 75 gal. tank with a built in doghouse for my puppy! I know it's a bit unorthodox, however I am running out of room in my basement! Here is the build! ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/a39f921a74bb7b14a45d5e25dc5d7119.jpg) the material all chopped up! ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/b12dc4fdcf2d648f125a14f9dc26a896.jpg) The tank with some equipment in it! ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/a20172a3faa2e29770ba55a23d96d95d.jpg) The start of the frame! ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/657c67e682a1fd0dcfe6da2b4a548672.jpg) ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/467b52e8cb509225c316f3097dfd3171.jpg) ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160903/dd6a6a56435d494faec208596e760979.jpg) I doubled up all vertical posts, also the back support where not going to be a post in the middle. Did add a 1/2 inch plywood top and a 1/2 inch hard styrofoam sheet to distribute weight and to level out imperfections on the surface of the plywood. Also did 8 crossbeam to distribute the weight better.

I'll keep updating this thread as I progress with the tank! This tank will house six goldfish, for now, with possibly two more!

I have a couple Perfecto glass canopies I may no longer need from my 75g, whenever I can downgrade to a 55. I was hoping to get a tank this weekend, but the guy never got back to me with a time to pick it up. I can let you know?
Also, taking notes to build a new stand of my own~ The space for the dog is a very cool idea, though Murdock is already very happy in his crate... but would I like a tank where his crate is?? Hmmm!

Well I am really not happy with WallMart right at this moment! Not only they are not carrying the Krylon brand spray paint any longer, but then this happens... ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/5cd7c6c1b77f347dd53d704d5a3af188.jpg) Clearly a black can of paint, right? ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/3a7243942980ef286a958010af5f61a7.jpg) Well maybe not so much! Someone f...ed up somewhere! ![](http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/109e26e82da9698b7bbdd64c045395ea.jpg) Lucky for me, I did the first few coats with a can of paint I had lying around! This was just so no light goes through! People, always test your can of paint on a piece of scrap before you start applying to your project!!!

Home Hardware carries Krylon, though I'm not sure how the price compares...
