Another great video by King of DIY Joey Definitely one that i will look at building in the future. I used one of those controllers to control my heater in my 120 cichlid tank. Best add on I have ever done it not only cycles the heater like a champ but it gives you an additional digital temp read out for your tank. I would recommend this DIY to any one!

Welcome to the forum Jaybale! If I may, where did you get the components to build the controller locally?

I have been looking at these controllers, they have so many to choose from on Amazon range from $18 to $40 in price. The only difference I see is the Amp rating, Some are 10 Amp 1500 watt max and some are 15 Amp 1500 watt max. So my Question is would it be better to get the higher 15 amp controller? Just not sure why the amps are different when the wattage is the same? Better quality the higher amp rating?

The controllers have internal relays that switch on and off the the one rated for 15 amp is your best bet. It comes with beefed up relays and controls. Either way they pretty much are all from China. (I have been running my set up for about 2 years now no problems or issues ) I ordered 2 thinking one would not work for my 55 gallon but now that same controller heats my 125 no problem. And accurate I have a 60.00 Comercial digital temp monitor and it's never off then .5 degrees

No problem just make sure you install it in a case or container of some sort so it's not sitting direct on the ground or stand (I dollar stored it up for mine) it doest look fancy but it works an didn't cost me a fortune

found this one on Amazon $30 plug and play. With water proof probe I was going to get one of those but realized 1) the hearted has to plug in the front of it 2) it would have to lay down on the ground reducing the visibility of the screen 3) I have not seen anyone using it So I was a little cautious lol
