Hello all!
I would like to start with a big thank you to Ron and Anette Bishop for coming out from London this morning to do a presentation for us.
There were 20 members in attendance for this great talk on Axolotls, and some great tips on live food collecting! It was great to see pictures of Anette "ditch hopping" for mosquito larvae! As well as the nice pictures and videos of the Axolotl laying eggs! Very informative talk on these interesting creatures!
As I mentioned at the meeting we got a large donation for the club, and we paid it forward by sponsoring one of the speakers at the CAOAC convention next year! This time we picked Ian A.M. Fuller, who is one of the leading catfish keeper and breeder in the world. He has written several books himself and co-authored a lot more!
At this meeting, and several others, Matthew Rac - Sabo was helping out with the presentation and auction. We felt that it was our honour to help him out with a couple of volunteer hours, that he needs for his schooling!
I like to thank Ron for bringing a whole bunch of fish for the auction, and running our mini auction as well! It was great to see how he coached people into spending more money than they were prepared for!
Unfortunately we did not have any items to have a ruffle this time. I would like to appeal to everyone for donations for this event, it is a great way to help out other hobbyists and help the club at the same time!
The bowl show was a clean sweep by Gabor Rac - Sabo with his wife's gorgeous goldfish!
First place - Butterfly Black Moor
Second place - Ranchu fancy gold fish
The people who did not pick up their shirts, we will have them at the next meeting, or you can contact Les, or myself for arranging a drop off/ pick up!
The next auction will be the Greater Detroit on Oct. 8th 2016
Followed by Octoberfish on Oct. 16th 2016
Michigan Cichlid Association will be on Oct. 29th 2016
And on Nov. 6th 2016 Peel Region
Once again thank you all for coming out to the meeting, and for your continuing support!
