So I'm putting this under fish cuz I guess this is as good a place as any. I keep nirite snails, there the best snails iv ever kept but iv run into a problem. They've always been really healthy and active but all of a sudden there dropping like flies. The problem is I started two things at once so I don't know what the problem is. First I started excel to wipe out my bba and second I switched to ei dosing. I just stopped the excel because the bba is getting under control and its starting to beat up my vals, but does anyone have an idea which one is causing the problem so I don't go through this in the future. Also does anyone have any idea where I can get some more once this problem is resolved? Thanks.

I don't think its EI. Excel could be a factor if your overdosing for bba. More likely in my opinion is high co2 and low o2. Sam's in Belle River said they were getting them in. Fantastic Fins in Livonia normally have them.

Two more thoughts - do you micro frets have any copper - probably not, but its bad for inverts - how old are your snails - I "think" nerites have a shorter lifespan in freshwater - do you have enough ca/mg - they need it but you should have plenty unless you RO your water.
OK that's 3 thoughts.

I use excel with no ill effects. And I am dosing ferts with no ill effect. That is a weird one. Unless your dosing excel with higher than normal amounts.

After a little more looking I thinks it's a bit of both. I was doing a 2x dose of excel for the bba, it can be bad for shrimp maybe the same goes for snails. Also I don't know how I missed this but my micro does hav a small amount of copper, .1%. I was using dnf trace elements, what does all the other ei dosers here use for micro? And thanks for all the help.

Ok, this is giving me a headache lol. After doing some more looking all trace contain some copper and every where online says dnf is good. I think I'm going to do the elimination method and cut out the excel first and see how that goes.

I use csm+b. It also has traces of copper, but I don't have nerites in that tank.
Do you know if ruffins has horned nerites?
