I guess from the title everyone expects a picture of this huge Echinodorus Amazonicus. Well I hate to disappoint everyone, however this is all about my attempt at tissue culturing! So a few months ago I noticed that my large Echinodorus Amazonicus starting to look quite horrible. All the leaves melted on it and nothing I did seem to help it! So as the last resort I pulled out the plant and looked at the roots. Half of the roots were rotting, and it seem like it is spreading to the healthier parts of the plant too! The cause for this was that I planted it too deep, as well as too close to the corner of the tank. This resulted the plant being root bound and the rot as well! I had two options: 1) throw out the plant or option 2) experiment! Can you guess what did I decide to do? I cut all the rotting parts out of the root, and cut the remaining part in two! Peeled off all the leaves and floated the pitiful looking plant remains! The half that was closer to the original rot quickly softened and become a mush! Well I thought this is it. Well I kind of forgot about the other part, and it became lost in between a ton of stargrass. Guess what I found today!?! There is even a second plant on the same "root"!!!
