Fertilizer question

I was wondering if anyone uses root tabs?

Lately my crypts are not growing as they should, and I was thinking that my substrate ran out of some of the essential macro nutrients! I mean in three years I did not fertilize my tanks!

What root tabs would you recommend? DIY is better than buying at the store? Where to get empty capsules? What frets to put in the capsules? Any preferred brand?

I’ve used the Dyi root tabs before . We had a member when the club first started who made clay tabs that we’re baked in the oven . They were made of clay but I found that they made a huge mess of my tanks. After that I went with the store bought ones made by Fluval ( I could be wrong ) , these worked well with my Amazon Sword plants .

I was thinking of making DIY from a slow release plant fertilizer! I’m sure there are some out there you can use for root tabs!
