Since I have a boiler for heat, the house is a bit dry in the winter. There was an empty corner in the living room that would be just right for a tank/humidifier, but I couldn't find something I liked and most were pressed saw dust ugh. I then decided that I could build some thing better, and better looking. With the measurements of the corner space I hunted for and found a five sided tank that was a perfect fit. I built the bottom of the cabinet with internal adjustable feet for leveling, but then didn't need them. the inside holds the receptacle box mounted to a door with a cord out the back to power the unit, a net, air pump (since I only use under gravel filters in my tanks), timer, glass scraper, etc. The second section is painted inside with a blue plastic paint for easy cleaning, and is a tight fit to the three viewing windows. The two backsides have two 2"x10" long slots above the tank for ventilation and a 2" space between the cabinet and the tank to allow for placement of the heater and access holes to the bottom cabinet for the air line, valves, and power cords. It has trim that slides over the bottom section for alignment and a one piece look. The top section slips over the second section the same way, it is coated with white plastic paint, and contains a florescent fixture that luckily fits exactly from corner to corner. There is a 8" wide lid just in front of the light on a piano hinge for access. It is all made from furniture grade plywood.

That is a great outcome of the “humidifier” project! Very nice, and clean work!
