Well folks it looks like the male Ancistrus sp. `RIO PARAGUAY` has a female trapped in the cave! There was a lot of activity last night, with the female on top of the cave and the male inside. And today as well, however finally it looks like a successful trapping of the female! I tried to peek in there with a flash light, however with two plecos in there, I could not see anything! Well other than the male is pointing head first to the opening of the cave, and the female is opposite! This is interesting to me, since the only time I saw the male trap a female in a cave was with my long fin albino bristlenose, and they were opposite way. Tail to snout with the female facing the opening of the cave!

It’s interesting that a total change of tanks and water Chemistry can trigger a spawning . I hope this is the case .

Success! There is eggs from one female, and another one is trapped! Hopefully they’ll be viable eggs!

Two clutches of eggs! One is very small, only five eggs, however they are nice and orange. The other clutch is around 20 or 25 eggs.

Well yesterday I noticed a few fry hanging out by the entrance to the cave. Since I have them in the goldfish tank, I was worried they will become snack for the goldfish. So I stripped them out of the cave! I still can not get a clean count but there is 30+ fry! Here is a picture for BAP witnessing! Sorry for the “blue” picture, the lights started to fade into afternoon mode just as I was taking the picture! This is the way I am housing the fry at the moment!
