Thanks man and yeah it looked like crap probably why I got it so cheap but now I love it haha and okay so u regularly dose your tank I wouldn't be sure how to do that I just did the tank one time 50% water change a week later and haven't dosed it since Initially I dosed a half a teaspoon of salt per gallon. Since salt does not evaporate out of water, I only add what is lost after water changes. Example I take out 6 gallons of water and I add 3 teaspoons of salt to the new water. Now everyone doses salt in there own way for there needs. This just how I do it and it works very well for me. Alright man thanks maybe I'll give it a try see how they respond

What kind of filtration are you running on your tank? One thing with a large aquarium, the larger you go the easier it gets and you can do smaller volume of water changes but that also varies with how many fish you have in your tank. So it's a balance that you have to find and then maintain cause the more fish you add the more maintenance you'll have to perform.

Yeah I do water tests, if for any reason I have any spike I just do a larger water change and I'm running a fluval fx6 with a coarse and fine sponge bio media under that middle is all bio bottom is bio zeocarb and clearmax once a week gravel vac and water change and then monthly I clean all artificial plants and the filter

Oh yeah I have lol I like to change it up that just because my zeocarb is good for 6 weeks carbon one month and clear max about a month so every fourth week since I'm opening to change the chem filtration I tear down my filter and wash everything in the water from the water change to keep the good bacteria alive

Like Guppyguy said everyone uses salt a little differently. For example on a 50 gallon tank I do a water change of 15 gallons per week, so I vacuum out 3 5 gallon pails of waste water, mix 3 5 gallon pails of new water, add Prime first to the new water and then 1 Table spoon of API salt per 5 gallon pail. If the tank is a little low on water from evaporation then I would not add salt to one of the 5 gallon pails just Prime in that pail. Like mentioned above salt does not evaporate with the water so you do have to be careful that salt levels don't build up over time. There are some fish that cannot tolerate salt at all like cories and loaches, So always researcher new or different ways of doing things first.

I use almost exclusively sponge filters. I have smaller tanks though!
