Soooo... It's looking like this guy might need a new home! He has suddenly started eating my plants and pulling them up! I wonder if he is bored with no tankmates? He's also getting pretty big for my 29 gallon. What do you guys recommend? Do all angels do this? Is there a way to stop him from eating the plants? (change his diet or something?) Ugh, I'm so frustrated!

Angels tend to nip on certain plants. Though he might be bored.

Sorry to hear about your misbehaving Angel, mine occasionally pick at plants but have never done and damage to the plants. A 29 gallon tank will be plenty big enough for one Angel. Could be board maybe a school of 6 fish, rummy nose, harlequin rasbora, cherry barbs all do well with Angels. Maybe the Angel is just hungry. How often do you feed ? I feed mine twice a day and still seem hungry all the time. Good Luck, Keith

I find my angels picking on certain plants. Hygrophila is one group of plants that my angels love to eat. I mean, full out grazing like cattle. In one day a 20” tall plant was eaten. I didn’t even get the chance to take pictures of it in the tank. Also the tissue cultured narrow leaf Hygro was next....

Thanks for the advice guys! I've got some larger rasboras in quarantine, but they have an issue I can't seem to solve (currently treating with 1tbsp/gallon salt), so it will be a long time before I can add them. I'm thinking of maybe rehoming the angel. I really like him, but I'm feeling so discouraged with the state of the plants. This whole tank has me very frustrated lately, ever since the heater incident. It just seems to be continuing to go downhill. I could trade the Angel in at Aqua, or, if anyone was interested I could sell/trade him.

I’ll take that angel off your hand if you are sure you want to get rid of it.
