So I have seen other people set up guppy ponds outside in pretty much much anything barrels buckets foam totes etc. So why cant I ? Well I did, but I used a green Rubbermaid plastic tote. Its between 30 and 40 gallons, I added some pool filter and cycled aquarium gravel added live plants that can handle our outside conditions. Was able to add purple cabomba, hygro sunset, java fern, ludwigia repens and hygro compact. The pond has been set up for 3 days. Plants are doing well. Temperature is still too cold for fish. Need to wait till night time temps stay 65 or above. And that will be soon. I have guppies and some platys waiting to head out. I am interested to see how well the plants do. And how many guppies I will have in there by end of the summer. Attachments:

Nice idea! I wanted to propagate some plants outdoors this year because many aquarium plants grow like crazy outside. Couldn't figure out what to do it in but I think I found the answer, thanks!

Hey no problem. It works great and plants are doing well. I made a substrate similar to the aquariums for nutrients. I know the plants will do well and the Repens will look awesome under natural light.
