Has anyone tried gluing smaller stem plants to rocks or wood, I'm concerned it would stop the stem from being able to thicken when it grows, any thoughts would be appreciated

I wouldnt do stem plants that need to be planted in the substrate.
But, you could take some black thread and tie plants like hornwort, anubias, java fern, bucephalandra, and water wisteria to rocks and driftwood. Anacharis may allow this as well since it can also be floated.

Yah I was thinking I could glue it to a rock and stick the rock and stem under the substrate everything's fine just some smaller stems I got from a buddy keep floating out of the substrate

Which plants are you trying to anchor?

Which plants are you trying to anchor? The pinkish red ones I know gravels isn't the best substrate probably part of the reason their coming out but I don't really feeling like taking the substrate out and replacing maybe even just a couple drops of glue on a few pieces of the gravel to stick them too it till they root and anchor themselves

Gorgeous tank! I think though it may be your fish digging them out too lol some cichlids don't treat plants kindly.
Okay so a suggestion to keep the plants anchored until better rooted, i would take a long but thin rock, use fine thread or an elastic band to secure the current roots to the rock and wedge the rock under the gravel. Make sure if you use thread, trim off loose ends carefully.
I dont have large fish, but sometimes my cories dig out my plants too. Ive had to get creative sometimes. Ill secure some plants using a circle of airline tubing and anchor that under the sand. But your fish are much larger, so i dont think an airline tube circle will be sturdy enough.
