7 days old today, he graduated to sand bottom instead of bare bottom in his little cup. For beneficial bacteria as his barbels develop further. Little bugger blends right in!

So today my trilineatus decided to spawn AGAIN. I witnessed all the action, collected 95 eggs total! youtu.be/0uVXUYnhaGQI still have my single fry in his cup of sand. The eggs are in the container the cup is in. And all of these in a bigger container. That cup idea was ingenious, i love it for easy water changes.

Grand total is 98 altogether, collected a couple stragglers. Mom of all these ones is the big one. I only have 2 female trilineatus. The other 7 are all male lol. Last spawn was my other female i believe as she thinned out after the eggs were found last time. This one stayed porky until today.

Currently at about 50 fry hatched! They started hatching on the 7th, but some are hatching later still, so still got more coming lol once they all hatch, i plan on moving them to cups like my older one until theyre old enough for sand. Then will add them back to the half gallon holding container until they outgrow that. Basically i got a cup inside a half gallon tote, inside a 3 gallon tote lol Once they outgrow the 3 gal, i got a 20 gal tote for them too. So far so good. Whats nice is with these summer temps, i dont need a heater to worry about like the gourami fry. I can sit comfy at room temps with them. Temps sitting at 75F

Im not 100% sure why but ive had a die off.
Didnt move anyone, didnt change routine, same water used as every water change, fed the same, i dont know.
Im down to 33 fry as of today. The ones that passed had food in their tummies, so i am not really sure why.
Water added to their container is same temperature as it was when removed, dechlorinated before refilling.
Fed Hikari First Bites
Indian almond leaves and alder cones for shelter and secondary food source (infusoria).
Sand bottom.
Filtered with cycled mini sponge filter.
Temperatures 72-75 depending on room ambiance.
Water 100% changed every day.
Some of the ones that passed were super tiny though, like same size as the day they hatched. Some were larger. So i dont know.
Scratching my head at this one. My single older guy is doing fantastic, but the smaller younger ones are dropping like flies.

Moved them to a 2.5g, easier monitoring. Got 32 fry. Filter is DIY sponge, using media from cycled filters. So nice to see them at all angles now youtu.be/G-6JS4OC_NE

Die offs are expected. I still have a few fry drop off here or there. Iām about 40% survival rate at the moment. I bet your next batch will do better as you get more practice in raising the fry!
