My trilineatus spawned, a surprise spawn (must be something about this lockdown!) By time i found the eggs in the floating plastic plants, it had already been a few days. Only 1 egg was viable, which hatched this morning. Happy to hear tips if anyone has any. Container he is in is using old tank water from the tank the parents are in, an airstone, an alder cone, and a couple pebbles from main tank for good bacteria. Water will be changed daily using water from the main tank. I have infusoria, Hikari First Bites, and a cyclops culture. Given its just the one, i expect failure, but im gonna try all the same.

First of, congratulations on the spawn. Tip #1. As I am going through with breeding corydoras at the moment, I would suggest a smaller container to keep the fry in. It will have a hard time finding food in there. Maybe put an egg crate shelf in the larger container that you could place a deli cup on? This way the temperature would not fluctuate too bad. Also I would cut a hole on the deli cup, cover it with sponge, (I use a plastic internal breeding cage) and do water changes in the larger container to reduce stress. Maybe spot clean the cup. #2 do not over feed. The rotting food will fungus like bad eggs do, and eventually the fry eat it and perish. I use a tooth pick to feed small amounts of food frequently through out the day. #3 The poor guy needs a hide. Put in a few strands of java moss or such.

The container he is currently inside is a Breyer's ice cream tub, the smaller ones, not the giant walmart brand tubs. Is that still too large? I can place a smaller thing inside if needed too. I can use a solo cup with tiny holed drilled inside. Would i need the airstone inside that cup or on the outside? Everything ive read says to keep the airstone in. I do like the concept of easier water changes with him in a smaller space, because water changes are terrifying with fry. With the platy fry, i just siphon into a white bucket and net them back into the grow out. But a cory fry is still much smaller. He has been hiding under the alder cone, i can happily add a piece of indian almond leaf as well for him to hide in, and bonus for the natural biofilm it creates as a secondary food source. Just a small tidbit, maybe 1" in size. I dont have java moss at the moment BUT i do have a shipment coming tomorrow that should have some moss. I can add some then. Also have sponge coming in with the same package. I like the toothpick idea, especially with just the single fry. It would be easier to feed him that way. I could do the fry food really easily off that. Maybe not the live foods lol

The close up photo is of the little guy today before i moved him to the mini cup. But i took your advice i am still waiting on my package of moss, sterbai, and sponge, should be here by noon. Hes so funny looking but adorable too. The cup is inside the original container. Held in place with a stainless steel BBQ skewer. It does make the water change so much easier. If drained, the holes in the cup are half an inch from the bottom of the cup, so water stays in with the fry while the rest of the container is emptied and refilled. Excellent tip on the cup!!

I’m glad it worked out with the cup for you! I like to diy things as much as I can, so over the past few years picked up a few tricks!
I like the idea of leaving 1/2” space to keep the fry in the cup in a comfortable amount of water! Well done!
I feed live brine shrimp with a toothpick as well. Enough of it sticks to it, for a feeding. Specially when the fry are still small!

I have not seen any of the fry eating until they were at least half an inch. They must be since they grow...

It is alive at six days, it is eating! They are slow growers until they hit that 1/4” mark. Than they will grow a lot faster! I can’t even take pictures of the five days old fry. I try but I’m not promising anything!

Must be breeding season for most fish, my friend in Texas, her P.furacus just bred as well. When we ever get around to a meeting I am hoping to see loads of BAP entries! Good job folk!

Gary It must be! First my DG pair, then one of my platy girls, and now my cories. Granted, this little one will be staying with me if he makes it. Hes super lucky and special to be the only egg to make. But i got 38 mickey mouse platy fry who are doing awesome. Theyre 14 days old by now. They were born May 17th lol
