Ok guys I like this club alot so im gonna let u guys in on my little secret how to get ur cichlids color up faster. Everyone knows that the key point is good water condition and proper diets. Check and check. But still no colors from 2.5" to 3". Hmmm what am I doing wrong u may ask urself. Nothing ur doing what u suppose to do but they need some challenger for dominance. Sure u buy 2 or 3 males but sometime no colors shows up except damage or dead fish. FEMALES is key, everyone knew that but my tips is for u guys to obtain gorgeous looking fish, not damage fish. Get 1 male and 2 or more females of the same species. So at this point everyone knows that too. Heres my trick. Get some mirrors and put it at the end of both sides of the tank. Y? Im glad u ask. Here is where u trick ur male that there is another male in his territory and want to take his females. It will see it self in the mirrors and will color up in no time. Good luck. Did that experiment with my otter point, ngara flame tail (3" full color and they the slowest to odtain full colors). AND dont forget Butch, hes doing awesome as we speak even after the incident. hope it helps. Any comments bad or good are more then welcome.

I hate to dampen your enthusiasm but you are stressing your fish unnecessarily in my opinion. You never give them down time if there are not quite and secluded areas.
If it works for you fine but this goes against what I have read and learned myself. Put the well being of your animals first and they will thrive. I consider it only fair to share this point of view with others.
