So I am cleaning my 55 gallon and pulling out my middle sponge filter to give it a cleaning and I find it hard to lift out I thinking what going on here. I give it a tug and to my surprise I find my ludwigia repens and hygrophlia polysperma sunset and grown roots, right thru the sponge filter into the substrate below. Who knew the plants would do that. And this tank has only been up and running for a month. Guess the plants are doing well. lol. Just sharing a little story with you guys.

Plants are good at that. They've grown into many of my sponge filters over the years.
