Hi,
Found your site on Kijiji and thought I'd pop over and join your forum.
I've kept both an array of setups in the past, including both FW and SW aquaria. I haven't kept anything for the past three years as I was overseas and the choice of fish there was almost non-existent. I currently keep a Betta splendens in a 1.5 gallon acrylic setup I purchased in a FO shop on Tecumseh... name escapes me. Kinda sad as it's a far cry from my previous setups but hey, at least it's a start.
I'd like some feedback on where aquarists in the area purchase their fish, plants, gear, etc. Does anyone organize group orders? Anyone actively breeding? Trading plants?
Let me know when you're organizing a group meeting as I'll try to attend.

Well first off I am glad you found my ad or the site Admins ad on kijiji. Its good to know our advertising works. And you could not have come to a better place to get back in the hobby. The shop on Tecumseh was probably Aqua Animania. And a betta is a start back in the right direction. Now we have a vendors section here on the forum. They list fish they get in when a order comes in. I recommend getting fish from them as the forum is just a part but separate of the new Windsor Aquarium Society we have started. And they support our club so we support them. They been getting some great odds ball fish and harder to get items lately. And also many of the the forum member list fish for sale here, often and really great prices. As far as equipment there is always a lot for sale on the forum, there always tanks filter driftwood etc listed here. If not again the shops in our vendor section have really good deals going on tanks right now. When buying plants I often buy from other members or special order thru Ruffins in Leamington as that is my local fish store. I also purchase plants and fish from large annual aquatic auctions different area aquarium societies have twice a year. I am breeding right now. I am a breeder of different live bearers. Including and not limited to guppies, endlers, platys, mollies, and sword tails. And many unique, rare, or beautiful strains of each. I am also very much into planted tanks as are many many of us on the forum and members of the society. All my tanks are planted. And I am often selling.
The next meeting for the Windsor Aquarium Society will take place on Sunday August 11th at 10:00AM at Moose Lodge #1499 (777 Tecumseh Road West in Windsor). The bowl show for August will feature Bettas, Sharks and Loaches; so bring in your beautiful fish to show off. The presentation will be on Advanced plants.
I hope I provided you will so great info to start you in the right direction. If you have any question feel free to ask. thanks for joining !!!!

Thanks for the feedback.
It sounds very similar to how we were doing things in Halifax. I founded the ECAS, primarily a FW club and the MASNS, a SW society back in Halifax so it's nice to know there's a society here that I can hook up with.
Not confident that our Betta would live up to a bowl show standard. LOL. We like him all the same.
Once we find a more permanent residence I'm hoping to pick up the addiction full-fledged again, i.e., multiple-tank syndrome. I'd love to tap into your experience with Endlers. Unlike a lot of hobbyists who engage in a pseudo elitist attitude, I still love keeping live bearers. So much colour and personality.

Hey another member to our society is more than welcomed. Also no problem with helping out with Endlers and most other live bearers. Happy to have another live bearer fan here. I have other fish too but for years I have been into many strains of guppies but now have branched out to others types of fish.
