About a year ago I purchased 12 Cherry Shrimp. They were very, very small. About a month after getting them, we only had 3 left. Of course, they were living with a male Betta. I wasn't sure if he was picking them off, I have never seen him do so. But now, a year on, the are breeding like crazy! Before I moved 7 to a new tank, I counted about 30 of them. So even if my Betta is snacking on some, he isn't doing enough damage to prevent the population from growing. I love it! The 7 I threw into a smaller tank I thought were just one female and 6 males. And the female is MUCH darker in colour to the originals I bought. Like so red she is almost black. Looking in that tank now, I count three females and all of them are in berry. I don't know how many babies I can expect from each, so I would love it if someone could fill me in on that. There is nothing else alive in that tank and the filter is just a tiny air driven thing with an insert. Nothing in there can harm the babies, except the adults if they do that... Another question I hope someone can answer for me! If I can figure out how to get some pictures up, I will do so. I have some pretty cool shots! But I don't want to sell any since I could still use more, just thought I'd throw that out there before anyone asks, lol.

The first is one of the berried females, the second is the darkest female.

Each female can carry up to 40 eggs!!! So you looking at 120 babies in about a month! The adults will not eat the babies as long as they are alive, anything dead is a fair game! Do not put a ghost shrimp in there since it will cach and eat the cherries! Just puting it out there sort of speak, in case you want to keep other shrimp with them! Now a question for you.... how did you post pictures?

Thanks! Now how did I add pics? lol
Oh yah! The add attachments button at the top right of the reply screen. It was my first time doing it and it wouldn't accept some of my pics because they were too large.

If you find they are still too large just re size them, I made a sticky of a thread about doing this in the general discussion area

I have probably 150 or more now who knows, cant really count them. And the babies are so small you have to really look to even see them, it doesnt help I have basketball size amount of moss there in all the time either.
Gonna have to start selling some off maybe dont wanna get too crowded lol
